Product description

The art of tea begins with the right gesture

The chasen (茶せん) is the essential utensil for preparing perfectly frothy matcha . Carved from a single piece of bamboo , it embodies the precision and elegance of the art of Japanese tea. Each strand is hand-cut to create a flexible and durable whisk, capable of emulsifying matcha powder into a fine and creamy texture. This tool, passed down for centuries by tea masters, is not only functional: it tells of know-how, tradition, and a relationship with slow and precise gestures. Using a chasen is like treating yourself to an experience, a suspended moment, where every movement has meaning. Ideal for lovers of authentic matcha, it allows you to recreate the Japanese tea ceremony at home in its refined simplicity.

Making a chasen is an art that requires several years of training. The artisan begins by selecting mature bamboo, dried naturally to avoid cracking. Each strand is then cut by hand and refined with extreme precision to achieve the ideal flexibility. The final, slightly rounded shape is not left to chance: it allows for the creation of a fine emulsion without damaging the matcha powder. This meticulous work respects gestures codified for centuries, inherited from the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu). Few workshops still master this know-how, which gives the chasen a unique value: each piece is a living testimony to a rare artisanal tradition.
