Dogou (道具) Japanese everyday utensils

In Japanese, dogu (道具) means “tool”, “utensil”.

We write it Dogou , in French, so that its pronunciation remains faithful to the Japanese language. But here, this word designates much more than a simple object: it embodies simplicity, beauty in use, the elegance of everyday gestures. It is this approach to everyday life, both humble and refined, that has always fascinated me.

From France to Japan, a bond of the heart

A story of family and passion

My name is Leonard , founder of Dogou.

For the past ten years, I have been going to Japan every winter to spend New Year's with my in-laws, who live in Yokohama .

Since my first visits, I've been captivated by one thing in particular: the way the Japanese design everyday objects. Simple, well-designed, often ingenious utensils that make life easier... and more beautiful. These are the objects found in every Japanese kitchen, used effortlessly, and lasting for years.

I knew I wanted to create a project between France and Japan. When I realized that these clever and discreet objects were almost impossible to find here, Dogou was born.

A story born in the heart of family meals in Japan.

100% Made in Japan

When the idea becomes reality

All items offered on Dogou are made in Japan , without exception.

They are selected directly on site, with the invaluable help of my Japanese family.

These are not folk products or souvenirs.

These are utensils that we really use , designed to last, designed for use, designed intelligently.

The idea: to introduce these everyday treasures to France

Kappabashi, Tokyo, a nod to France

A selection designed to last

Every trip to Japan is a chance for me to visit Kappabashi , Tokyo's famous kitchenware district. You can find everything from omelet whisks to onigiri molds, knives to the perfect bowl.

I love wandering around, discovering new tools, testing their handling, and imagining how they could fit into our French kitchens.

Dogou was born somewhere between the shelves of Kappabashi and the cupboards of our Western kitchens .

A collection faithful to the Japanese spirit, down to the smallest details.

Kappabashi, Tokyo My playground

Where it all begins

Every trip to Japan takes me to Kappabashi, Tokyo's kitchenware district. You'll find everything from omelet whisks to onigiri molds, knives to perfect bowls. This is where Dogou draws his inspiration.

Kappabashi, a paradise for food lovers.

Aucune n'attend.
