Product description

The V-shaped opening of this vase is not a stylistic detail. It is an intention. The two wings spreading upwards form a precise angle, designed to hold one or two stems crosswise, without support, without a flower frog, without artifice. The flower finds its position on its own. The body is tall, prismatic, lacquered in deep burgundy, with golden edges highlighting every ridge from the base to the tips. The surface is smooth, slightly glossy, with a fine texture visible in raking light, a trace of the lacquer work applied in successive layers. This vase belongs to the tradition of ikebana containers, objects designed not to adorn the flower but to place it in space and give it direction. Placed alone, it is already a silhouette. With a long branch or a stem of black tulip, it becomes something else.

Care: on the outside, a soft, dry cloth is sufficient; on the inside, change the water regularly as with any flower vase and empty it after use to preserve the lacquer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the opening V-shaped?

The two wings that spread upwards form a precise angle that holds one or two stems crossed, without a flower frog or support.

Should I fill the vase with water to the brim?

No, a third is enough.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it with a soft cloth, never immersing it.

How to use it?

A Japanese container for arranging flowers: ikebana favours a few well-placed stems over a large bouquet.
What it is for: you arrange a branch, a seasonal stem or a few grasses in it to dress a corner of the home.
Place one or two long stems in it, tulip, iris or branch: the V opening holds them without a flower frog.
Do not fill with water to the brim: a third is enough. Empty it after use to preserve the lacquer.
Wipe the outside with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse it.
Idea: fewer flowers is better: one or two well-chosen stems are enough to dress up a corner of a shelf.
Good to know: change the water every two days and recut the stems at an angle, so flowers last longer.
